PEP Housing started construction on Acacia Lane Senior Apartments in April 2011 with a scheduled completion date of April 2012. Acacia Lane Senior Apartments is designed to provide an engaging and respectful living environment for low-, very low-, and extremely low-income seniors. The project is located on Acacia Lane at 4711 Sonoma Highway in Santa Rosa on a 1.32 acre vacant site that was purchased by PEP Housing in 2007. The project includes 44-units and an attractive community room. Units are one-bedroom, one-bath units, approximately 628 square feet each, with a private deck or balcony. The farmhouse-inspired development features three buildings (two residential and one community) which are clustered on the property to allow for ample space around the buildings in order to accommodate a small orchard, a foot path looping around the site, and garden plots. Community spaces include a kitchen, reading room/lounge, laundry facilities, a manager’s office, landscaped grounds, and adequate on-site parking. Additionally, there is a bus stop approximately a block away and a variety of shops and amenities within a ½ mile.
Energy efficiency and environmental awareness are a priority for this project. In addition to utilizing energy-efficient building materials, all appliances will meet Energy Star ratings and a photovoltaic system has been incorporated into the design to reduce pollutants and demand on the power grid. The project will be green-certified.
